Morubisi Bush Lodge is nestled at the foot of the magnificent Magalies Mountains in a tranquil environment with an abundance of bird- and wildlife. It is a birdwatcher’s dream location.
The lodge boasts nine rock and log bush chalets and five safari tents each with its own private boma and braai area.
The mountain range behind the lodge is home to a colony of approximately 250 breeding pairs of Cape Vultures. Morubisi is the Setswana name for ‘owl’, the native tongue in the area. It is only 10 minutes away from Hartbeespoort Dam.
Some of the activities offered by Morubisi Bush Lodge include guided nature hikes, bird walks and owl discussions.
The lodge has a separate dormitory section where volunteers and school groups can book in to learn more about conservation and our biodiversity.
Morubisi Bush Lodge is home to Owl Rescue Centre. It is a quick break from the city, situated only 45 minutes from Johannesburg, Pretoria and Sun City. Guests have the opportunity to observ.

Our little jet fighter (Pearl Spotted Owl) was released today. After one last good check that he is in tip top condition, he flew off to start his new life. There is plenty of small prey available at the moment, so he should do well. We have taken the hassle out of camping with our permanently erected Bush Tents. We still have 6 spots left but if you want to book a bigger group, we can always make a plan! Each chalet has a double bed, an en-suite bathroom and small kitchenette with basic cutlery & crockery. Natural wood is used in the design to give a rustic bush feel. Each chalet has a private braai area where you can enjoy a night under the stars. Morubisi Bush Lodge offers a true bush getaway with its unpretentious natural design. It takes you back to your roots; in quietude of nature. The chalets and structures are built from natural raw material like wood and stone. Because we believe that a building should not detract from the beauty of Mother Earth. To truly appreciate nature and its beauty, you need to embrace its simplicity.
